There are many aspects of being a vet that I enjoy. The fact that in any one day, I can be at the receiving end of a happy dog’s good morning greeting; I can discuss the complexities of an intricate fracture repair or struggle to get a puppy to walk in a straight line; I can spend hours planning and preparing or need to think on my feet; I can read the latest research or look to some time-honoured principles for guidance. Variety is all in a day’s work. There is always a new challenge and every aspect of your character is called into play. The scope for learning is endless, but so are the rewards and possibilities. My main areas of interest are orthopaedic biomechanics, locomotion, gait analysis and neurology.
