Manchester Veterinary Specialists is an Orthopaedic Referral Centre led by RCVS and European Specialists in Small Animal Surgery, Steve Bright and Ben Keeley. At MVS, we deal with injuries or illnesses affecting limbs, bones, and joints in both cats and dogs. We pride ourselves on our caring nature, not only to our patient but also to their owners – But our care doesn’t just stop with pet owners and their companions.
MVS also offer their expertise and knowledge to local charities in and around Manchester to show our continued support for all the work they do in the care and safety of animals. MVS works very proudly with the charity Guide Dogs. Working closely with both their Manchester and Liverpool based regional mobility teams.
Guide Dogs aims to provide people with sight loss with the support they need to be able to move around safely and confidently, to get out of their homes and enable them to live life the way they choose. In the UK today, almost two million people are living with sight loss and of those, around 180,000 rarely leave their homes alone and many suffer from depression and struggle with feelings of isolation. The charity’s iconic guide dog service is at the heart of their work and since 1931 has transformed the lives of thousands of people with sight loss across the UK by partnering them with a guide dog, helping them to take control of their lives. MVS are honored to be a part of making such a huge difference to both the dogs and handlers alike.
MVS are Guide Dogs’ preferred providers for Orthopaedic care in the area. We provide clinical examinations, internal radiography, CT scans, and a variety of surgical options for all guide dogs dependent upon the required treatment option.
The service MVS provides supports the guide dogs to best ensure they are fit, healthy and ready to begin their journey as working assistance dogs.
